My name is Doris Voina and I am a postdoc in the SNAIL. I am interested in computational models of heuristics and how the brain switches between optimal and simple, heuristic strategies. I like to use a combination of modeling and data-driven explorations to discover computational mechanisms the brain uses to make sense of the world.
I did my PhD at the University of Washington under the guidance or Prof. Eric Shea-Brown and Dr. Ştefan Mihalas, collaborating with Allen Institute of Brain Science as a visiting student. I have also been involved as a postdoc with the AI Institute in Dynamic Systems in Seattle, working with Dr's Steve Brunton and Nathan Kutz.
